Submission Guidelines

Please read carefully before submitting a profile. All profiles are reviewed by a human moderator before going live.

Who Can Submit

• The inmate themselves (by mail, through a family member who creates the online account).
• An immediate family member or trusted friend with the inmate's written consent.
• You must be 18 or older to create an account.

Required Information

• Inmate's full legal name and inmate ID number.
• Complete and current mailing address (facility name, P.O. Box, city, state, ZIP).
• A clear, recent photo (no group photos, no inappropriate content).
• A biography written by or with the inmate that gives a genuine sense of the person.

Photo Guidelines

• One clear, well-lit photo showing the face. Additional gallery photos allowed on Premium plan.
• No nudity, no gang signs, no weapons, no offensive symbols.
• JPG, PNG, or WebP. Maximum 4 MB per image.
• By uploading, you confirm you have the right to use the photo and consent to its publication.

Biography Content

A strong profile is honest, hopeful, and specific. Tell readers:

• What you (or the inmate) enjoy reading, writing, watching, doing.
• Goals while incarcerated and after release.
• What kind of correspondence you're hoping for.

Please do not include:

• Graphic descriptions of crimes or violence.
• Requests for money, gifts, or financial help.
• Hateful, racist, or threatening language.
• Sexually explicit content.
• Contact information for other people (third-party privacy).

Honesty About Charges

We don't require disclosure of the specific crime, but we ask that you not actively deceive correspondents. Pen pals deserve to make informed choices. Many writers research public records on their own; misrepresentation breaks trust quickly.

Review Process

1. You submit the profile through the dashboard.
2. A moderator reviews it within 3-5 business days.
3. If approved, the profile goes live and you'll get a confirmation email.
4. If we need changes, we'll email you with specific feedback.
5. If rejected, we'll explain why. You can revise and resubmit.

Subscription & Renewal

Listings are annual. We email a reminder 30 days before expiration. If the inmate is released, transferred, or wishes to be removed, contact us right away and we will take the profile down.

Removal Requests

Inmates or their families may request removal at any time. Contact us through the Contact page and include the profile name, inmate ID, and your relationship to the inmate. Verified requests are honored within 48 hours.
